Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
Our submission is a newsletter announcing 10 years of service to victims of crime and disaster created using InDesign and Photoshop. It was used as a mailing piece to the more than 1,700 volunteers we have trained for service to those in crisis, as well as mailed to the general public. The purpose was to enlist others to be trained and as an invitation to our first conference in celebration of the 10 years of service. The faith community as well as law enforcement and disaster responders were highlighted. In addition, the piece served as a fundraiser. Innovation: The theme of Living Ready: To Journey, To Respond and To Impact was carried throughout the design and message of the piece showing a visual roadmap of responses to victims through 10 years. This theme and message were carried out successfully at the conference with fabulous quotes from those in attendance.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
The issue we addressed is the importance of taking the training needed for crisis intervention response to victims of crime and disaster by telling stories and showing photos of successful interventions for making a difference in our nation and other countries.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
This piece gave value to volunteerism and motivated more than 350 people to attend. For our first conference, we were very pleased with the impact on these individuals to become involved with our organization.
