- Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
- This is our 2009 agency Annual Report - the first such report printed for our organization in many years. It summarizes our agency's highlights and donors over the previous years and will be used to communicate our good work with sponsors, grantors, donors, etc. Our agency exists on a very tight budget. We've never had the software, designers, or capabilities to create something professional, polished, and truly representative of our impact on our community. We were able to afford the CS4 Suite through Techsoup and the work was done by a talented intern from the local university. She started from scratch and created a piece that people will read and retain. Printing was also donated, making this a "dream project" we could actually afford.
- What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
- Our agency serves over 500 children a year - kids that are lonely, falling behind in school, or at risk of falling into lifestyles that are predetermined by their backgrounds. Our agency is also vulnerable, as funding is unstable and awareness of our programs needs to be improved. This report serves to educate the community on the outcomes our youth achieve through the BBBS program, the value of community support, and the great heights our organization is reaching!
- How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
- Yes! Our benefactors and supporters have been very impressed with the annual report. Many have reported that they are pleased with the information and the way it was presented. They are pleased with the progress our agency has made and think the annual report is indicative of our good work. This piece will be used throughout the rest of 2010, helping our organization grow through funding, volunteers, and community support.
