The Club Times

Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?: The Boys & Girls Club offers a variety of high-impact programs that enable youth to mature into productive, caring and responsible adults. The Club Times is a publication used to show our impact by highlighting the diversity of programs and activities offered to the youth who need it most. This newsletter was created in Adobe InDesign. We also used Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat to create logos and adjust photos. We acquired these programs through the Adobe and TechSoup partnership. This partnership has been extremely beneficial to us by providing affordable prices for professional software. We were honored to receive such high-quality programs and do not think we could have done it without the discounts offered through the TechSoup partnership.

What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?: The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge strives to educate members of our community of the depth and scope of the core programs we have within the organization. We are constantly confused with other youth-oriented organizations in our area and our quarterly newsletter, The Club Times, was created to distinguish us and demonstrate how different we are.

How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?: The challenges kids face today are hard and the Boys & Girls Club strives to provide a positive place where kids are inspired to BE GREAT. Adobe has helped us tell the stories of our members to the Baton Rouge community through The Club Times and we could not do it without it! By using these programs, we are able to differentiate ourselves from other youth organizations in our community and show everyone how we motivate kids to BE GREAT and reach their full potential. We have used Adobe products in many other ways as well. Our website for our organization, www.brclubs.org was built using Photoshop and Illustrator.
