Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
Our brochure is both for the clients we serve and for the supporters that help us provide the programs and services we do. We are a small, but growing, nonprofit in a rural community. We work well within a fixed budget and our ability to give comprehensive but concise information quickly is crucial in telling our story.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
The issue is twofold. We want to do as much outreach as possible but we can't spend a fortune to do it. We need to do outreach in a number of different ways. 1- we need to make sure potential clients who need our services are aware that we're here and what we can do for them. 2- We need individual donors, private foundations, businesses and other agencies to know how they can support us or partner with us. 3- We need a software that can help me communicate with our graphic designer and help him communicate with the various print shops and publishers we work with.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
Brochures are an inexpensive portable way for us to tell our story. We're able to include them in tour packets, hand them to unexpected visitors, pass them out at presentations and distribute them at libraries, community centers and events that where we host a table. Having this brochure as both a .jpg and as a .pdf has increasing become a requirement for many of the major grantors we apply to each year. As more and more foundations require online applications, we are required to upload an electronic copy of our brochure. We are able to do that without having to upload a lesser-quality scanned copy.
