Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
This promo proof sheet contains the Logo and Lower Third designs for our new educational series "A minute with Julie". The logo, lower third and similar branding designs were created with the idea that our demographic (Pre-K through 6th grade) has been entertained by the largest production studios in the nation (Disney, Pixar, Nickolodeon, etc). As a small educational non-profit, we don't have the financial resources to compete with such large organizations. However, we can be innovative in our colorful design, fun presentation and kid friendly "pop" in both our graphic design and video production. We think this brand meets our design goals!
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
Through our "A minute with Julie" educational series, we are addressing the major issues facing our identified demographic today. Topics such as texting, relationships, respect, bullying, depression/anxiety, peers, character, dedication to community and mutual support are just the beginning of our list. These 1 to 2 minute cool, kid film vignettes are just long enough to hold the Millennial Generation's attention, push the message in an entertaining way and capture parents attention through their kids eyes. In the field of psychology and character development, most efforts are intervention based. We realize that our efforts are prevention based and as such funding for prevention efforts is low, despite the fact that there is an expected $6.00 return on every $1.00 invested in prevention. With Adobe products, and the help of volunteer staff and interns, we can make a big impact with little cost.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
ErieKIDS executes big ideas with little money...we're the little train that COULD! Our tech savvy, web expertise and video/audio production acumen allows us to reach goals that would normally require big budgets. Because of donations of software, our donated time and our dedicated volunteers, we are hitting cumulative outreach numbers nearing 500,000 views per year...internationally! Beyond who is watching our productions, the productions themselves serve to increase our position as a supportive colleague in our community. It has allowed us to grow into stronger relationships with other nonprofits who attend to similar needs of children. Finally, those same social service agencies enlist our collaborative support to improve their educational outreach. We've been able to assist a dozen nonprofits with increasing their community presence.
