Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
The creative piece is Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity's 2008-2009 fiscal year annual report. The report highlights current GAHFH initiatives including; our foreclosure rehab program, our tithing project with Paraguay, and our partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Colorado. We have also included information on donors, volunteers, and our current and future homeowners. How do you provide community members, donors, volunteers, and homeowners with imperative information about the GAHFH program in a meaningful way? Develop a report that they will see every month and every day. At GAHFH we innovatively designed our annual report as a 2010-2011 calendar. The Calendar is being distributed to current donors, volunteers, and homeowners as a way to inform them about what GAHFH is and has been doing. It is also being used as an educational tool for potential donors, volunteers, and homeowners.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity (GAHFH) has struggled to provide the community; current and future donors, volunteers, and homeowners with information about past and present initiatives taking place at GAHFH. The calendar's other main function is to recruit new donors, volunteers, and homeowners to the Habitat cause.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
The annual report calendar provides financial and program information in a simple, intuitive way. It has served as a reminder to those who have received it and used it about the Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity mission and has encouraged individuals to contribute to GAHFH in a financial or volunteer capacity.
