- Infobytes! is an email, web & print newsletter designed using our discounted Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
Infobytes! shares supportive and useful information (news, events, workshops and resources) about Volunteer Ottawa and Ottawa’s non-profit community. It provides quick and easy access to thousands of volunteer opportunities and resources for volunteers and the voluntary sector.
It is sent out monthly to our subscribers in an HTML email, it is also converted to PDF and published on our website and it can be printed off for those who do not have internet access.
Infobytes is innovative because it serves as a portal in which volunteers and Ottawa’s non-profit community can establish a meaningful connection, and share information.
- What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
- **Info sharing: Infobytes! is a quick & easy way to get information out in a timely manner to Ottawa’s non-profit community & potential volunteers. It serves as the dive point to thousands of volunteer opportunities, resources, & events that VO & other non-profits offer the Ottawa Community.
**Accessibility: We are able to use descriptive Alt tags to make the images accessible to visually impaired recipients. Screen-reading software will read alt tags aloud. Plus, we bridge the accessibility gap by offering Infobytes! by email, by web & in print.
**Social Media: Infobytes! increases our social media presence by leading recipients & website viewers to our social media networks. Infobytes! may start out as an email, but by converting the HTML to PDF, we enable our social media followers to pick up on our information & share it with their own networks. It becomes viral quickly!
- How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
- We provide volunteers and Ottawa’s non-profit community a meaningful connection through Infobytes! Offering different facets of Communication is essential to build a healthy, vibrant and active community (like Ottawa). Thanks to our Adobe Software made available through TechSoup we are creating meaningful connections!
