Serving those who harvest America

The Farwmorker Coordinating Council of Palm Beach, Inc (FWCC) is a non profit organization located in Palm Beach County, Florida. Our mission is to promote self-sufficiency and improve the quality of life of migrant and seasonal farm workers through education, advocacy, and access to services.

Until recently, our efforts to reach out to the community and expand our support based was limited to word of mouth and contacting a few faithful donors who knew about our programs and supported our mission.

After we acquired several Micrsoft products through Tech Soup Donation Program, the agency has been able to reach out to an increasingly larger number of donors and supporters.

Using MS Access, we developed a data base to collect information about our regular donors, and people who would inquire about volunteering with us. As our data base grew, we also began publishing a newsletter and mailing it out to those supporters. MS Office was the only software we needed to use. With MS Publisher we created the newsletter, and using the mailing merge capability of MS Word, we were able to import all the information from MS Access to create the mailing labels. We have also used the same software suite to print and mail our annual appeal letter. Currently we are reaching out to more than 600 individuals and our donations have grown exponentially.

Our service delivery has also been impacted in a positive way since we began using MS products. Our agency has two offices, located 45 miles apart. Because of this, many of the services we delivered to our clients were delayed waiting for the necessary information and paper work to flow between the main and satellite office. After we installed MS Windows Sever 2003, the exchange of information between both offices have been seamless and instantaneous. Staffs in both offices are now capable of communicating with each other while preserving the integrity of the data and maintaining client’s confidentiality. Now both offices have a centralized and secured data depository, where they can access and share the information regardless of site location.
